Personal Childhood Web

My Walden assignment for this week has been very interesting. I was able to reflect on my practices as an educator and how important it is for me to have good relationship with the families of the children in my classroom. Throughout my childhood, I have been blessed with people who took care of me and help in shaping who I am. The people are my parents, my brothers, my sister-in-law and my grade three teacher.

   My Late Parents: cared and made sure that I got quality education. My parents were not educated but they knew the value of education. From their small earnings they ensured that I have things I needed and this applies to my brothers too. I was much closer to my dad and I can remember that he always drop me at school when I was in Primary school. My dad always say that, ‘’no child of mine will be brought up by someone else’’. He will rather talk to you than spank you and when he does, he tells me the reason for his actions. He was very hard working and he believed that you can do anything you set your mind on. This has so much impact on my life as I do believe you can do all things and I know the value of education.

Lanre Bashorun

My brothers: have always protected me and taken care of me. Sometimes people refer to them as my fathers and they were very much older than me. I am much closer to Lanre Bashorun and he made feel special while growing up. He ensured that I finished my university education when my parents couldn’t continue because of old age. He was always taking me places and he went with me when I wanted to write entrance exam to secondary school. We are still pretty close till date and he is standing in the place of my dad. I remember when I was a teenager, I did not like him because I saw him as someone who didn’t want me to have the kind of friends I wanted to have and do what I wanted. But reverse is the case now as I am very grateful that he didn’t give up on me when I was growing up and I feel so blessed to be his sister. My immediate senior is 16years older than me and he was and still protective of me. I remember that as a teenager, no one especially boys can mess with me. He also took care of me and he washes my clothes when I was growing up.

My sister-in-law

My sister-in-law: is very calm and quiet. She also took care of me when growing up. We are still close till date and I see her as my big sister. She cooked for me when growing up and bought things for me. I admire her openness and generosity.

Miss Esubiyi: was my grade 2 teacher. She was very creative and I remember a drama we acted in class when she told us the story of Moses. She taught me for a short time and I was sad when she left.
